About me

Mathew Crowther

I hold undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in history and have spent several years collecting, research and writing about satirical prints of the long eighteenth-century in a private capacity.

It’s safe to say that I’m interested in anything related to the history of graphic satire in the Hanoverian era, although my specific areas of interest include: the commercial history of the English satirical print-trade; the export of English graphic satires; satirical print publishing in the British provinces; the satirical print-trade as an ancillary of the wider trade in books, stationary and printed goods; reproduction of satirical imagery in other commercial mediums; satirical representations of English radicalism in the ages of Revolution and Reform; the American Revolution in graphic satire; and caricatures of the French Revolution.

I also occasionally offer prints for sale via my blog. My current listings can be viewed on the ‘Prints for sale’ page.
